Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is processed when you visit absurdity.blog (the “Site”) or contact its author. It applies to the Site’s pages, including versions in other languages. It does not cover external websites reached through links, which have their own privacy notices.

1. Data controller and contact details

The data controller is Oriana Lombardi. For questions about the use of personal data or to exercise your rights, you can write to info@absurdity.blog.

2. Personal data we process

Technical browsing data

When you visit the Site, the systems that make it available may process technical data sent by your device and browser, such as your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page requested, the address of the referring page, browser and device type, operating system, and server response codes. This data is used to deliver the pages, maintain security, and identify technical problems.

Data sent through the contact form or by email

The contact form requires your name, email address, subject, and message. If you contact the controller directly, the data in your communication and related technical data are processed. Please do not include special categories of personal data or information about other people that is not necessary for your request. The data is used to read and respond to your message, not to subscribe you to a newsletter. To prevent automated submissions and abuse, the form uses Google reCAPTCHA. Google processes data collected through reCAPTCHA as a processor only as necessary to provide and maintain the service and for security, threat-detection, fraud-prevention, and abuse-prevention purposes. When executed, the service sets the necessary _GRECAPTCHA cookie for risk analysis.

Messages addressed to info@absurdity.blog are delivered to the email mailbox provided by Register.it. To send emails generated by the contact form, the Site uses Brevo (Brevo SAS) as its email-delivery service: messages pass through Brevo before reaching the Register.it mailbox. For this transmission, Brevo processes the information in the emails and the technical data needed to send them; Register.it processes the data needed to receive and store messages in the mailbox. Brevo acts as a processor for its service under the applicable agreements.

Statistics and external content

The Site uses Google Site Kit and Google Analytics 4 to measure page usage and compile statistics. Depending on the configuration and the choices you make, these services may process usage data, browser and device information, online identifiers, and data about the pages you visit.

The Site currently has no newsletter sign-up form, and comments on articles are disabled. If these features are introduced, this Privacy Policy will be updated.

3. Purposes and legal bases

  • Providing the Site and keeping it operational: delivering pages, preventing abuse, maintaining security, and diagnosing technical problems. The legal basis is the controller’s legitimate interest in managing and protecting the Site (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) and, where applicable, compliance with legal obligations.
  • Handling contact requests: reading and answering messages. Depending on the content of the request, the legal basis is taking steps at the data subject’s request before entering into a possible contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) or the legitimate interest in handling correspondence (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • Non-essential statistics: measuring traffic. Where required by law, the use of cookies or similar technologies for this purpose is based on consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you may refuse or withdraw.
  • Legal obligations and protection of rights: processing the data needed to comply with legal obligations or to establish, exercise, or defend a legal claim.

4. Cookies and preference management

The Site may use technical cookies that are necessary for it to function and, depending on the services in use and your preferences, cookies or similar technologies to measure Site usage. Details about individual cookies, providers, and retention periods are set out in the Site’s Cookie Policy. You can change your preferences through the consent management panel available on the Site and withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal. You can also manage cookies in your browser settings, bearing in mind that blocking technical cookies may prevent some features from working.

5. Recipients and service providers

Where necessary, data may be processed by service providers that support the Site and communications, including the Site’s hosting provider; Register.it, which provides the email mailbox; Brevo (Brevo SAS), used to send emails generated by the contact form; and Google for services used on the Site, including reCAPTCHA to prevent automated submissions and abuse, Google Site Kit and Google Analytics 4 for statistics. Providers act under their respective roles and applicable agreements. The Site does not publish your data unless you voluntarily make it public through an external service.

Some Google and Brevo services may involve the processing or transfer of personal data outside the European Economic Area, including through sub-processors. Brevo’s DPA provides for the safeguards required by applicable data-protection law for such transfers, including Standard Contractual Clauses and supplementary measures where applicable. The transfer mechanisms applicable to Google services are described in Google’s Cloud Data Processing Addendum. See Brevo’s Terms of Service and DPA and Google’s Cloud Data Processing Addendum.

6. Retention periods

  • Contact messages are kept for as long as needed to handle the request and related correspondence. They are then deleted when no longer needed, unless they must be retained to meet a legal obligation or protect a right.
  • Technical data and logs relating to the Site’s operation and email delivery are kept for as long as needed to provide, secure, and diagnose the services, according to the applicable settings and retention rules of the relevant providers (hosting, Register.it, and Brevo).
  • Data relating to statistics and cookies is retained according to the settings of the services used and the periods stated in the Cookie Policy.

7. Whether you must provide the data

Browsing the Site involves processing the technical data needed to deliver its pages. Submitting a contact request is optional. To submit one, you must complete the fields marked as required (name, email address, subject, and message) and tick the required privacy checkbox. Without these details, the controller cannot receive or handle the request. Consent to non-essential cookies is optional and may be refused.

8. Your rights

Where provided for by the GDPR, you may request access to your personal data, its rectification or erasure, restriction of processing, and data portability. You may also object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw your consent at any time. To exercise your rights, write to info@absurdity.blog. You may also lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).

9. Automated decision-making

The controller does not make decisions on the Site that produce legal effects or similarly significantly affect you based solely on automated processing. Third-party services, such as analytics services, may use automated processes in accordance with their own settings and privacy notices.

10. Updates

This Privacy Policy may be updated when the Site, the services used, or applicable laws change. The date at the beginning indicates the latest update.
